A major part of the effort to increase safety for worker on communication towers is to increase the levels of training for all involved. A big step in the right direction is the Tower Industry Registered Apprenticeship Program (TIRAP) development in the USA. Although not being rolled out in Canada (yet), this will ensure that tower riggers received the formal training and evaluation required to become safer workers at height. To that end, TIRAP has released a video highlighting the basic safety requirements for workers in an industry that leads North America in fatalities per number of workers.
